KEV is the General Contractor in charge of building the Stage 2 LRT O-Train West Extension, one of the largest infrastructure projects funded by the City of Ottawa (owner), Province of Ontario, and Government of Canada. It is a 15km extension that starts from Tunney’s Pasture and extends west beyond Bayshore to Moodie Drive, and south-west out to Algonquin College.

The Soletanche Bachy joint venture will be the main subcontractor in the construction of a 1.5 km temporary SOE for the Cut and Cover Parkway Tunnel. The scope of work includes the design and build, including materials supply, of a 600 mm cement-bentonite wall (30000 m2 approx, maximum depth 18 m, slurry mixed on-site), reinforced with structural steel H beams, installation of horizontal bracing elements (struts and walers) and construction of shear pins. The soil conditions are a mix of silt, sand and hard rock. Groundwater table is approx. 3-4 m below platform level.

The cement-bentonite wall is currently scheduled to start end of 2020 (after completing mobilization and set up of the batching plant), with a total works duration of 24 months.
