In March 2020Soletanche Polska was commissioned by Rover Group to build the diaphragm walls for a new underground car park. This structure will allowusers to park their cars in the immediate vicinity, with direct access to the train station platforms in Chylonia, a suburb of the city of Gdynia, near Gdansk, northern Poland. This infrastructure – which will ultimately reduce CO2 emissions and be very useful for the local community – will be operational by the end of the year 2021.

The technical challenge was largely within the reach of our Polish subsidiary. That said, the Soletanche Polska teams had to face an entirely different challenge: delivering the site on time, despite starting up in the midst of health restrictions and equipment procurement difficulties due to the pandemic.

The teams were spurred on by two objectives throughout the duration of the work – to guarantee the safety of all those present on the worksite and to ensure that the work was completed by the deadline.

These objectives were met, since we completed a 225m-long, 9m-deep and 60cm-thick wall and delivered it on time. Now we will leave you to discover more about the project in images
